Omaha, a ‘Huge Target for Scammers,’ Fights Back

According to the FTC, there were 9,337 reports of fraud across Nebraska in 2023, with losses totaling $25.2 million. The most common type of fraud involved imposter scams, where criminals pretend to be a trusted entity — often law enforcement, a government agency, or a financial institution — demanding payment, typically involving either gift cards or, increasingly, crypto currency.

Fremont’s Inaugural Hispanic Business Banquet Celebrates Hispanic Leaders and Community Impact
Last Friday, the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce held its first-ever Hispanic Business Banquet, an event dedicated to honoring the achievements and contributions of Hispanic entrepreneurs and professionals within the community.

Nebraska Latino Youth Summit connects students with opportunities

“This event is meant and created for that reason, to have representation, and for them to feel represented in the fact that they are able to see these Latinos doing important things across the state and beyond,” Maria Arriaga, the executive director of the Nebraska Commission on Latino-Americans, one of the organizers of the summit, said. “They will feel that they have a path to follow or an example or role model.”
