Fiestas Patrias Omaha 2024

Spanish-speaking parent support group continues its pilot program

A parenting group for Spanish speakers will continue its pilot program in Fremont starting this week.
The group is called Nemilistli—after the Aztec Nahuatl word for life. The Latino Center of the Midlands created it as one of their Pathways to Success programs.

University of Nebraska in Lincoln and University of Nebraska in Omaha students concerned with closure of diversity resources

The University of Nebraska campuses in Omaha and Lincoln are dissolving offices focused on diversity. Many students on both campuses are concerned about the closures.
The Association of Students of the University of Nebraska, or ASUN, is the student government representation at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In its first meeting of the semester, the student representatives went into closed session to discuss the university’s decision to close the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
Gloria Zarza Shines Bright with Gold at Paris 2024 Paralympics
Gloria Zarza Guadarrama born in 1984 in Zinacantepec, Mexico has made this past September 2nd history by winning the gold medal in shot put at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Competing in the F54 category, which includes athletes who sit while competing due to disabilities like spinal cord injuries, Zarza's incredible performance has made her a standout star.
