Fort Bend County,TX- Balance? There’s plenty in League One Volleyball’s pro league as after the first week of play, there are just two unbeaten teams left. LOVB Omaha made sure of that Friday night with a 25-19, 25-20, 28-26 sweep of LOVB Houston.

Omaha was led by former Creighton standout Jaali Winters, who had 13 kills, two blocks and five digs.

Nebraska couple shares story of evacuating during Los Angeles fires

Altadena, CA-Nancy and Paul Jelinek were staying at a family home in Altadena, California — which is about 30 minutes from Los Angeles — when tragedy struck.

The couple had just returned from a vacation in Hawaii and were taking time to recuperate before returning to Omaha when they had to evacuate Tuesday night.

Omaha, NE- Samara Follette encountered something unexpected on the path to New York City last year for a prestigious high school theater program: fellow Nebraskans with Broadway chops. 

While in the Big Apple, the 2024 Lincoln Northeast graduate received coaching from two Broadway veterans from her home state. For Follette, it proved transformational.

Nebraska-Construction workers have expressed concern over potential tariff increases and workforce shortages in 2025.

Nebraska firms surveyed in the annual report from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) said the biggest worries are around an expected economic slowdown, lack of skilled labor, high financing and material costs.

South Sioux City, NE- In a small office, Abdikadir Moalim translates work documents from English to Somali, helping a Tyson employee who needs to take off work to visit her sick mother in Africa.

Tacked to the wall is a poster of the Somali coat of arms – two leopards on either side of the country’s flag. A dry erase board breaking down English vowel sounds is propped against a shelf.

Across the room, Katie Hagen checks the status of someone’s refugee application. A phoned-in relative helps translate between English and Oromo, the official language of Ethiopia.
