Hola, Nebraska! Día de los Muertos celebrations are just around the corner, and we’re excited to share a lineup of local events happening next week. Spotting & Avoiding Scams–FTC briefing with Omaha media & stakeholders

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Ethnic Media Services are hosting a roundtable news briefing in Omaha, Nebraska, to address the growing issue of scams and consumer fraud targeting all communities, including immigrants, communities of color, young people, and older adults.

Hola America Publications comes home with 16 José Martí Media Awards at National Hispanic Publications Annual Conference

Hola America Publications celebrated an extraordinary achievement at the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) Annual Convention, held last week in Chicago, Illinois. The prestigious José Martí Media Awards, which recognize excellence in Hispanic journalism, honored both publications with a combined total of 16 awards, showcasing their continued commitment to uplifting Latino voices and providing high-quality journalism.

Among the awards Erika Macias, publisher of Hola America and Hola Iowa, was recognized as Latina Publisher of the Year, a prestigious honor that highlights her leadership, vision, and commitment to the Hispanic community.

Banquet to honor economic impact of Latino businesses in Nebraska

Fremont. NE- The Hispanic Business Banquet is a fancy affair for Latino business owners, or dueños, and changemakers throughout the state.

Owners will be recognized for their work and economic contributions in Nebraska. It’s the first event of its kind in the region, but organizers are already planning for next year.

Sueños Summit: Building Latino Futures

Columbus, NE- The Sueños Summit 2024 was held on October 15 at Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska, bringing together nearly 400 students from across the state. The event aimed to equip Latino students, particularly those from rural areas, with the tools and resources needed to shape their academic and professional paths.
